Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-941 9V-SHN 'SQ279/278' Sydney Diversion

Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-941 9V-SHN operating flight 'SQ279' from Singapore Changi Int'l (SIN/WSSS) to Adelaide Int'l (ADL/YPAD) diverted to Sydney Kingsford Smith Int'l (SYD/YSSY) due to thick fog and extreme low visibility in Adelaide. The aircraft was turning on approach ILS Runway 23 before diverting to Sydney.

The aircraft arrived in Sydney Kingsford Smith Int'l (SYD/YSSY) at 0916AEST as 'SQ279' after a total flight time of 7 hours 41 minutes. The aircraft continued its journey to Adelaide Int'l (ADL/YPAD from Sydney Kingsford Smith Int'l (SYD/YSSY) about 3.5 hours later at 1135AEST after the weather in Adelaide got better as 'SQ279'. The aircraft arrived in Adelaide Int'l (ADL/YPAD) at 1248ACST with total delay time of 5 hours and 30 minutes from schedule.

After nearly 2 hours on ground in Adelaide, the aircraft departed back to Singapore Changi Int'l (SIN/WSSS) at 1409ACST as 'SQ278' after a total delay time of 5 hours from its schedule.

This was the second time Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-941 operates flight 'SQ279/278' divert to other airports due to bad weather. The first one was back in 03SEP19 when flight 'SQ279' operated by Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-941 9V-SHD diverted to Melbourne Tullamarine Int'l (MEL/YMML) also due to thick fog in Adelaide.
