After Lion Air, Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, this time Air India was chartered to operate the repatriation flights to carry stranded Australian back to Australia from India. The repatriation flight was operated by Air India 3.1 years old Boeing 787-8 Dream)liner VT-ANY.
The aircraft arrived in Adelaide Int'l (ADL/YPAD) from Delhi Indira Gandhi Int'l (DEL/VIDP) on 04AUG20 at 1111ACST after a total flight time of 10hrs50mins as 'AI1320'. The aircraft stayed in Adelaide overnight before departing to Melbourne Tullamarine Int'l (MEL/YMML) the next day 05AUG20 at 1024ACST as 'AI1321'.
This marked as first visit of Air India Boeing 787-8 Dream)liner VT-ANY to Adelaide as well as the very first visit of Air India Boeing 787 Dream)liner to Adelaide. It was also the first visit of Air India after nearly 50 years which the last visit was back in 1971.
