Qatar Airways Airbus A380-861 A7-APE Adelaide Diversion (1st visit)

On 16/08/2019, Qatar Airways Airbus A380-861 A7-APE diverted to Adelaide when it was en-routing flight 'QR900' from Doha In'tl Airport (DOH) - Perth Int'l Airport (PER) due to extreme weather condition at Perth airport. The aircraft was in a holding pattern in Perth before the crew decided to divert to Adelaide.

Qatar Airways flight 'QR900' operated by an Airbus A380-861 A7-APE arrived in Adelaide Int'l Airport (ADL) at 2237ACST after a flight time of 14 hours and 17 minutes. Unfortunately, the aircraft couldn't make their way back to Perth right away due to crew rest issue so flight QR901 from Perth was cancelled. Passengers on-board had to disembark the aircraft and were booked in a hotel in Adelaide to wait for their QR900 flight back to Perth.

At around 1900ACST on the 17th, the aircraft towed back to the gate to embarking passenger and carry them back to Perth. After more than 20 hours on Adelaide ground, the aircraft has finally departed Adelaide Int'l Airport (ADL) for Perth Int'l Airport (PER) at around 2350ACST as QR900. This marked as A7-APE's first ever visit Adelaide as well as first time Qatar Airways's Airbus A380 had ever visited Adelaide. It's a very rare occasion that 1 Qatar A380 and 1 Qatar A350 parking side by side in Adelaide.
