Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-941 9V-SHD operating flight 'SQ279' from Singapore Changi Int'l airport (SIN) to Adelaide Int'l airport (ADL) diverted to Melbourne Tullamarine Int'l airport (MEL) due to thick layer of fog and low visibility in Adelaide
The aircraft performed a couple of holding patterns in Northern suburb of Adelaide before the crew decided to divert to Melbourne.
The aircraft arrived in Melbourne Tullamarine Int'l airport (MEL) at 0845AEST as 'SQ279' after a flight time of 7 hours and 38 minutes. After the weather in Adelaide getting better, the aircraft departed Melbourne two hours later for Adelaide at 1100AEST and arrived in Adelaide Int'l airport (ADL) at 1143ACST as 'SQ279'.
After refueled, disembarked flight SQ279 passengers and embarked flight SQ278 passengers, the aircraft continued its journey back to Singapore Changi Int'l airport (SIN) from Adelaide Int'l airport (ADL) at 1307ACST as SQ278 after a total delay of 3 hours and 57 minutes from its scheduled. This was the first time Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 9V-SH* block ever visited Melbourne.
